What is TANCET 2021?

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2021 is conducted for MBA entrance in Tamilnadu. TANCET is conducted by Anna University on the behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Aspirants who seek admission to M.B.A. entrance in Tamilnadu at University Departments, University Colleges of Engineering, Regional Campuses of Anna University, Annamalai University, Government and Government Aided Colleges and Self-financing (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including stand-alone Institutions) Colleges in Tamil Nadu can be registered only through Online. Some Universities and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of score obtained in TANCET 2021. Other State candidates can appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be stipulated by the admitting authority / University.

TANCET 2021 is conducted in centers of Chennai, Karaikudi, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Chidambaram, Nagercoil, Vellore, Dindigul, Salem, Villupuram, Erode, Thanjavur, Virudhunagar. Aspirants need to select one of the above cities to take the test of TANCET 2021.

In any case, a center once allotted cannot be changed for any reason.

TANCET 2021: Eligibility for MBA entrance in Tamilnadu

A pass in a recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained at least 50%
45% in the case of candidates belonging to the reserved category in the qualifying degree examination.

  •  10 + 2 + 3 / 4 /5 years pattern (or)
  •  10 + 3 years Diploma +3 years pattern (or)
  • B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Pharm. (or)
  • (i) 10 + 2 + AMIE (Associate Member of Institution of Engineers)* (or)
  • (ii) 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.*

Aspirants who are in the final year examination/appearing are also eligible with qualifying degree courses
Other State Candidates can also appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be stipulated by the admitting authority / University.

Note:

  • Candidates admitted through Lateral Entry in degree courses are not eligible except, B.E./B.Tech. and M.C.A degree courses.
  • Candidates with B.E./B.Tech. Degree obtained through Distance / Weekend mode Programmes are not eligible.
  • Candidates with a Degree obtained without studying 10th Std., 12th Std. or 3 years Diploma and 3/4/5 years degree program are not eligible.

Appearing for the entrance test does not confer the aspirant’s eligibility for admission to MBA entrance in Tamilnadu. The decision on the eligibility for admission to a course entirely rests with the admitting authority offering the courses.

TANCET 2021: How to apply for MBA entrance in Tamilnadu


  • Click the TANCET Registration link given on the official website
  • Click the Register Button
  • Provide the required information and press the Submit button.
  • Now, it directs to the payment page. Make a payment online. Follow the instructions. Those who wish to avail of fee concession under SC/ST/SCA categories from TAMIL NADU must upload your community certificate, which is subject to scrutiny; and if found wrong, the application will be rejected. Those who do not have the required certificate can opt for the skip option while uploading the community certificate, and in that case, the candidate has to make full payment.
    On successful payment, it directs to pages related to other relevant details required for the examination. Follow the instructions and enter the details.
  • In the end, it asks for the confirmation of the details provided. Now, verify the details and confirm.
  • On confirming the details, it directs to a page where you can take printouts of your application. Take the printout of the application for your reference.
    The registration is successfully completed only if you are able to take the printout of your application. Otherwise, check the status of your application and proceed as instructed.

TANCET 2021: Documents Required for Registration

  • Valid email-ID and mobile number. Provide only your currently used email and mobile number, as this office communicates only through email/mobile.
  • Tenth Registration/Roll Number and Year of Passing.
  • Twelfth Registration/Roll Number and Year of Passing.
  • Diploma Registration/Roll Number and Year of Passing, if you are a diploma holder.
  • A passport photo of good quality in jpg format(Height: 200 px to 300 px. Width: 150 px to 300 px.) should be recently taken photograph.
  • Copy of community certificate in pdf format, for those who belong to SC/ST/SCA.
  • Image of your signature in jpg format(Signature should be in black or blue ink with white background. Recommended size: Height: 60 px to 80 px. Width: 150 px to 200 px.)
  • Particulars required for online payment.

Note: Candidates are required to check acceptable and unacceptable images of passport photos and signature photo to be uploaded in the registration form.

TANCET 2021: Important note for aspirants who need MBA entrance in Tamilnadu are required to follow below steps


  • Providing wrong information in the application may lead to disqualifying the candidate from TANCET 2021.
  • Remember your registered email, registered mobile number, and password till downloading the scorecard.
  • Do not make separate registration if you wish to include your name for the additional examination after your first registration. In such cases, the candidate is advised to use the Status Check & Additional Examination link, so that new examination details will be added to the already registered application. If you have added any examination particulars, you are advised to take a printout of the application again using the status check the link.
  • You can obtain a TANCET 2020 question booklet from the Centre for Entrance Examinations at the cost of Rs.25/- (by DD or cash) per booklet. Those who wish to get the question booklet by post, contact the center by phone.
  • For any communication related to TANCET, mention your application number.
    After payment, if the amount is deducted from the account and not reflected on your page, wait for 12 hours. Still, the problem persists, mail(email) the details to the Secretary (TANCET). Do not make any further payment before getting the reply

TANCET 2021: Test structure, marks, fee for MBA entrance in Tamilnadu

 

SyllabusMarks

The question paper will have the following sections
i) Evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.

ii) Evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.

iii) Evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level including those learned in plus two or equivalent level.

iv) Test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of mathematics and use of day-to-day facts.

v) Test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation, etc.,

Total marks- 100

MCQs with 4 options

Maximum marks- 100

Negative marks for every wrong answer- ⅓

Multiple shading will be considered as the wrong answer and a 1/3 mark will be reduced

 

  • Candidates have to pay 600/- ( 300/- for SC /SCA(special central assistance) /ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu)
  • Candidate registering for more than one programme has to pay 600/- ( 300/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) for each additional programme through online only

TANCET 2021: Hall Ticket and scorecard for MBA entrance in Tamilnadu


  1. The Registration Number assigned in the Hall Ticket should be entered at the appropriate place in the admission application form to be filed with the respective admitting authority later.
    All the candidates should download the hall tickets from the Anna University website.
  2. Hall Ticket should be produced at the time of Entrance Test and also at the time of Admission. If the hall ticket is lost after the test, a duplicate hall ticket can be obtained on payment of 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 indicating the Registration No. / Application No. and the name of the Examination Centre.
  3. Score Card should be downloaded from the website by the candidates within 10 days from the date of publication of results of the entrance test. The score card should be produced at the time of admission. If the score card is lost, a duplicate score card can be obtained on payment of 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025. Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University” payable at Chennai.
  4. For any clarification, the candidates may come in person to the place to Centre for Entrance Examinations Anna University, Chennai – 25 from 18.03.2021 & 19.03.2021 from 10 AM to 5 PM.
  5. Candidates who have written the TANCET will normally be notified with actual marks and percentile score they have obtained, at the time of publishing the result. However, to avoid projecting negative scoring, the final scorecard contains only the percentile score.
  6. The percentile score is calculated using the formula:
    Percentile Score =(Y/N)* 100.
    where Y is the number of students who scored a lesser mark than the candidate in that examination and N is the total number of students who appeared for the examination.
