The government medical institutes are having 1837 MD/MS seats and 1511 seats at Private medical colleges. Tamil Nadu offers 2206 MD seats, 1182 MS seats, 236 M.Ch, 282 DM, and 3 PG Diploma seats in total.

Tamil Nadu PG Counselling 2021: Counselling Process

Tamil Nadu NEET PG Counselling 2021 is a state Centralized Online Counselling Process. The sole authority to conduct online NEET PG Counselling 2021 is The Directorate of Medical Education i.e. DME, Chennai.

Candidates need to visit the official website at https://tnmedicalselection.net for registration on the basis of NEET PG Score 2021. Candidates can apply to MD/MS/PGD Courses in various Government/Private medical colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu.

In order to secure a Clinical or Para-clinical (MD/MS) seat in Deemed Medical College, Candidates will have to register at https://mcc.nic.in. There are two rounds of counselling that take place followed by a Mop-Up round of NEET PG Counselling 2021. The last round of PG Medical Counselling is subjected to the availability of MD/MS/PGD Seats after the 2nd round.

Admissions to the Medical/Dental/Ayush colleges of Tamil Nadu are solely based on the NEET PG 2021 score. Only NEET 2021 qualified candidates can participate in the Tamil Nadu NEET PG Counselling 2021. Details information is being shared in the article below.

Registration & Application Form:

  • Candidates who wish to secure an MD/MS seat in Tamil Nadu, need to register themselves on the official website at https://tnmedicalselection.net to participate in The Tamilnadu PG Medical Counselling 2021.
  • Candidates are advised to fill the application form for Tamil Nadu PG Counselling 2021 carefully as they will not be able to edit the details, once the application form is submitted.
  • Candidates must then print a copy of the duly filled application form on A4 Size paper. Sign in the space provided on the Tamil Nadu PG Counselling Application Form.
  • Candidates are advised to attach all the necessary enclosure in an A4 Size Cover, along with a copy of the filled application form, and must be sent to the following address.

  • An Application Registration Number (ARN) will be assigned by The Selection Committee on receipt of the filled form. 

State Merit/Rank List:

  • The Selection Committee then prepares a state merit list of the candidates, who have registered for Tamil Nadu NEET PG Counselling 2021.
  • Provisional Allotment Order is prepared according to the marks obtained in NEET PG 2021. Call letter will be available online for download.

Choice Filling and Locking:

  • Candidates will have to pay a processing fee of Rs. 1000/- to submit their choices.
  • Eligible Candidates need to submit their preference (Course/College) online through the Choice filling.
  • An OTP needs to be confirmed by the registered mobile number of the candidate.
  • After locking the choices, the candidate must take a print out of the choices submitted by the candidates.

Seat Allotment List:

The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu releases the seat allotment list, which is prepared on the basis of the choices filled by the candidates and ranks in the state merit list. Selected candidates need to report to the allotted institute along with all essential documents within the stipulated date/time.

From 2021 onwards, due to the pandemic of Covid-19, candidates can also opt for e-reporting this year. Candidates can send a confirmation mail to the respective institute along with scanned copies of documents. However, admissions confirmed are subjected to successful verification of their documents.

Reporting to Allotted College:

  • This is the final event when the candidates need to report to the allotted college with an allotment letter before the last date of admission.
  • Seats will be considered as confirmed, once the fee payment and verification of documents would have been taken place.

There will be a Mop-Up round after Round 2. Mop-Up/Final round is taken place when seats remain vacant after round 2 on the ground of Non-Availability or Non-Reporting of the candidates. 

Aspirants must be aware of the fact that the Mop-up/Final round will only be carried out by MCC for Deemed/Central Universities and ESIC Institutes.

Tamil Nadu PG Counselling 2021: Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have qualified NEET-PG 2021.
  • Candidates must have the domicile of Tamil Nadu (Differ for NRI/Other Quota)
  • Candidates must have passed MBBS from an NMC Recognized Medical College.
  • The candidates must have completed 1 year of Mandatory Internship on or before 31st of March 2021.
  • Any Candidate who has obtained his/her MBBS degree from outside India must have a qualified FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) Screening Test along with 1 year of Internship likely to be complete on or before 31st of Mar, 21.

Tamil Nadu PG Counselling 2021: Counselling Process

The Directorate of Medical Education i.e. DME, which can also be visited at https://tnmedicalselection.net is the designated authority of the Govt. of Tamil Nadu to conduct the Tamil Nadu PG Counselling 2021. DME, Chennai conducts the counselling for the allotment of seats in various Medical/Dental/Postgraduate degrees and Diploma courses. Let’s have a look at the percentage of seats divided into different categories.

  • 50% Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges
  • 50% of seats in Private Non-Minority Colleges 
  • 50% of seats in Private Minority Colleges 
  • 100% of seats in Private University Colleges i.e. Deemed University
  • 15% of NRI Quota.
  • 5% of Others Quota

First Round:

In the first round of counselling session, only those candidates can register for PG Counselling, who are seeking their MD/MS/PGD seats through All India Quota and Deemed Medical PG Seats. Candidates can certainly visit https://mcc.nic.in for registration. Aspirants are required to submit their choice. Candidates whom seats have been allotted need to visit the allotted college within mentioned time.

Second Round:

In this round, all NEET PG eligible candidates can apply and register at https://tnmedicalselection.net irrespective of the Tamil Nadu domicile and others. However, earlier choices submitted by the candidates will be considered null. Fresh choices of colleges and MD/MS Seats that need to be submitted are mandatory. 

Mop-Up Round:

This round of counselling is the last one and is subject to the availability of seats after completion of Round 2. The net vacant seats on account of Non-Joining, Non-Reporting of round 2 will be published in the seat matrix and eligible candidates have to submit fresh choices.

Based on the seat matrix issued by DME, Chennai, action will be taken to allot the seats to the candidates based on their eligibility and reservation criteria. Q- Other Seats
35% of the total seats in Private Non-Minority and Minority Colleges are reserved for candidates outside Karnataka in Management Quota. All the candidates who have qualified for NEET PG 2021 are eligible.
