Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the top Deemed Medical college located in the Union Territory of Puducherry. The college is popularly known as SLIMS Puducherry. This is the very first Institute in Puducherry to obtain permission to intake 250 MBBS students from the year 2019. 

SLIMS Puducherry was established in 2006 with a noble intention to provide affordable healthcare to the poor through its multispecialty hospital in Agaram village of Puducherry. later it got shaped in a full-fledged medical college with an aim to provide quality medical education at the higher level and to produce advanced health professionals with utmost humane ability and compassion to treat people and heal with love. 

Sri lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences Puducherry has been affiliated with Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research, Deemed University since its inception as a medical college in Puducherry. The University has been conferred the ‘Deemed’ status by the UGC in 2003. Bharath University was ranked 15th by NIRF Rankings in 2019 in the medical category.

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences Puducherry: Eligibility Criteria

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences is known for imparting Advanced medical education at distinct levels i.e. MBBS at UG and at the Postgraduate level. Students who are seeking admission to SLIMS Puducherry, need to qualify All India Entrance followed by the centralised counselling conducted by CENTAC.

Candidates must be aware that All India Quota can be claimed on 85% of total seats and 15% seats are reserved for NRI Quota. Certain eligibility criteria must be fulfilled to secure a seat in SLIMS Puducherry is mentioned below.

For MBBS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English having 50% marks from any recognized board. Candidates from the reserved category need to possess 40% in the same. 
• The Candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st Dec 2022. The candidates who do not complete 17 years as on 31st Dec’22 is not eligible.
• Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG with the required percentile.

For MD/MS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed MBBS from a recognized University by the NMC.
• Candidates need to have completed 1 Year of mandatory Internship on or before 11th of August in the same year of applying.
• Candidates need to produce permanent/provisional registration provided by the NMC (Earlier MCI) or the respective state medical council.
• Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET-PG for General Category and for reserved category, the requirement is 40 percentile in the same.

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences Puducherry: Admission Process

All the admissions to the UG and PG Courses are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam. NEET i.e. National Eligibility Entrance Test is conducted twice a year by NTA (National Testing Agency) to provide admission to SLIMS Puducherry. Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences offers MBBS and MD/MS in several Clinical and Para-Clinical specializations.

As per the guidelines of NMC (Earlier MCI) New Delhi, Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences offers admission in distinct quotas in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses of the college. SLIMS Puducherry is bound to provide admission according to the guidelines of the NMC, New Delhi.

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences offers Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery. The MBBS course in this college is 5.5 years long including 1 year of mandatory internship. Candidates seeking admission to MBBS in SLIMS Puducherry need to qualify for NEET-UG followed by the Counselling conducted by Centralised Admission Committe CENTAC Puducherry.
