The trust is a private, Self-financing and Charitable which was founded way earlier than Sree Mookambika Medical College in 1992 by Late Shri K.V. Krishnan Nair.

Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the private minority medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English having 50% marks from any recognized board. Candidates from the reserved category need to possess 40% in the same.

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses. SMIMS, Kanyakumari offers MD and MS Courses in several clinical and paraclinical specializations, recognized by NMC, New Delhi. 

Students who wish to take admission in this college, need to obtain the required percentile in NEET followed by the counselling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai.
