Meghalaya NEET UG: A Guide to the Admission Procedure

 

For admission to undergraduate medical and dentistry programs in India, the National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), a national-level medical entrance test. The only entrance test for Meghalaya's MBBS and BDS programs is NEET.

 

The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, is in charge of the Meghalaya NEET counseling procedure. Two rounds of counseling are undertaken, both of which are done online. Only in the event that there are still open seats after the second round would the third round be held.

Candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below in order to be eligible for Meghalaya's NEET UG:

 

They must have completed the 10+2 exam with a minimum of passing grades in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.

They had to have received an overall grade of at least 50% (45% for candidates with disabilities and 40% for SC/ST candidates).

As on December 31, 2023, they must be at least 17 years old.

They have to reside in Meghalaya.

Application Method

 

Through the NTA website, Meghalayan applicants may submit their NEET UG applications. Between April 1 and May 6, 2023, the NTA website will host the application for NEET UG.

 

For Meghalaya's NEET UG, the application fee is INR 1,500 for SC/ST applicants and INR 2,000 for general/OBC applicants. Online payment options for the application fee include debit, credit, and net banking.

 

Award List

 

The candidate's NEET score will be used to create the merit list for NEET UG in Meghalaya. Following the NEET test, the merit list will be posted on the NTA website.

The NEIGRIHMS Shillong online counseling procedure will be used to allocate seats for NEET UG in Meghalaya. Based on the applicants' NEET scores, college preferences, and category, seats in medical colleges will be assigned.

The entrance to a medical profession is via NEET UG. The Meghalaya NEET counseling procedure is a fair and transparent mechanism to distribute seats across the state's medical schools. NEET UG is the test you must pass if you want to pursue a career as a doctor.

 

Additional Details

 

In Meghalaya, there are 500 MBBS seats and 100 BDS seats, respectively.

Meghalaya's NEET UG cut-off fluctuates from year to year. However, 550 is generally considered to be the cutoff for MBBS.

There are two rounds in the Meghalaya NEET counseling procedure. State quota seats are determined in the first round, while All India Quota (AIQ) seats are determined in the second round.

Only when seats remain open after the first two rounds of counseling are there held the third round.
