Having a view of that, Katihar Medical College was established in 1987. Katihar Medical College is one of the top medical institutes in the state of Bihar.

The medical institute is popularly referred to as KMC, Katihar. The college is a private minority medical institute. Hence, certain reservation has been provided to the Muslim minority candidates as per the directives given by its parent university and NMC. Katihar Medical College is an integral unit of Al-Karim University and is affiliated with the same as well. KMC, Katihar celebrated its Silver Jubilee in Oct 2012. 

Since its inception, Katihar Medical College has been imparting quality medical education at the UG and PG levels. Al-Karim University is the parent organization of KMC, Katihar. The University is private, unaided, and founded under Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013. Al-Karim University is well recognized by UGC, New Delhi.

For MBBS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English having 50% marks from any recognized board. Candidates from the reserved category need to possess 40% in the same.

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses. KMC, Katihar offers MD and MS Courses in several clinical and paraclinical specializations, recognized by NMC, New Delhi. 

Students who wish to take admission in this college, need to obtain the required percentile in NEET followed by the counseling conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination, Patna. The college offers an MBBS Program that carries a duration of 4.5 years of Academic Course and 1 year of Mandatory Internship. The entire duration of the course is 5.5 years. 

Aspirants seeking admission to KMC, Katihar need to qualify for NEET-UG. Candidates are required to go through a centralized Counselling process conducted by BCECE, Patna. 

All rounds of Counselling are held online.
