Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research is one of the top postgraduate medical colleges in Kolkata. Popularly known as IPGMER Kolkata was established in 1957 by the then prime minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. There was a practice to migrate abroad to pursue postgraduate medical courses at the time of independence. Admission to all programs is based on the NEET Exams 2023.

Eligibility for Admission to IPGMER Kolkata

IPGMER Kolkata is known for its advanced medical courses imparted at distinct levels. There are certain eligibility criteria formulated by the collective guidelines of NMC New Delhi and WBUHS Kolkata. Domicile Candidates of West Bengal need to participate in the counselling conducted by WBMCC. For MBBS Candidates:

Candidates need to provide a domicile certificate stamped and signed by the competent authority. Candidates can download the domicile certificate proforma from https://wbmcc.nic.in.

Candidates need to qualify for NEET-UG 2023 with the required percentile.

Candidates need to have passed 12th with 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Reserved category candidates need to possess 40% of the same.

Candidates need to attain 17 years of age by 31st Dec in the same year of applying. Less than mentioned age shall not be considered under any circumstances.

For MD MS Candidates:

Candidates need to provide a domicile certificate in the prescribed proforma available at https://wbmcc.nic.in to claim state quota.

Candidates must have passed MBBS from a medical college recognized by NMC.

Candidates need to qualify for NEET-PG 2023 with the required percentile.

Candidates need to produce a permanent/provisional registration certificate issued by NMC or any state medical council at the time of counselling. 

For NEET-SS Candidates:

Candidates must have passed MD or MS in any specialisations from any medical college recognized by NMC New Delhi.

Candidates must have qualified for NEET-SS 2023 conducted by NBE New Delhi.

For DM Programs, candidates need to possess an MD Degree in a specific branch of medicine.

For M.Ch. Programs, candidates need to possess an MS Degree in a specific branch of Surgery.

Admission Process in IPGMER Kolkata

Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research Kolkata is the best government medical college in Kolkata. IPGMER Kolkata is offering 200 MBBS Seats and admission to the program is based on the NEET-UG 2023 Score followed by the counselling conducted by WBMCC Kolkata.
