Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna offers MBBS at the Undergraduate level and MD, MS at the Postgraduate level. Besides this, the college has also been conferring M.Ch and DM in various specializations. 

To secure a seat in MBBS and PG Courses in IGIMS, Patna, the candidates need to hold certain eligibility criteria which are discussed below.

For MBBS Aspirants:

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English having 50% marks from any recognized board. Candidates from the reserved category need to possess 40% in the same. 
  • Candidates need to attain 17 years of age. Less than mentioned age will not be entertained in any circumstances.
  • Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG with the required percentile. 

For MD/MS Aspirants:

  • Candidates must have passed MBBS from a recognized University by the NMC.
  • Candidates need to have completed 1 Year of mandatory Internship on or before 31st of March in the same year of applying.
  • Candidates need to produce permanent/provisional registration provided by the NMC (Earlier MCI) or the respective state medical council.
  • Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET-PG for General Category and for reserved category, the requirement is 40 percentile in the same.

For DM/M.Ch Aspirants:

  • Candidates need to possess a PG Degree in the respective specialization from a recognized medical college by NMC.
  • Candidates need to qualify NEET-SS conducted by the NBE, New Delhi.
  • For DM Aspirants, MD Degree is essential to occupy in the respective branch.
  • For M.Ch Aspirants, MS Degree in the required branch is mandatory to obtain.


Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences: Admission Process

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses in IGIMS, Patna are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses. IGIMS, Patna offers MD and MS Courses along with the Superspecialty program. 

Students who wish to take admission in this college, need to obtain the required percentile in NEET followed by the counseling conducted by MCC for All India Quota of 15% and for the rest 85% seats of State quota students need to participate in the state counseling conducted by BCECE i.e. Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. Only NEET-qualified candidates are eligible to participate in the counseling.
