The medical college was established in the pre-independence era in 1864 in Lahore. Later after independence in 1920 GMC Amritsar was relocated to Amritsar and in 1943, GMC Amritsar was officially inaugurated.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to GMC Amritsar

For MBBS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English having 50% marks from any recognized board.

• Candidates belonging to OBC Category must possess 45% marks in the same subject combination and for SC/ST Category, the required percentage is 40%. 

• Candidates need to attain 17 years of age. Less than mentioned age will not be entertained under any circumstances.

• Candidates must have qualified for NEET-UG 2023 with the required percentile.

• Candidates need to produce relevant domicile certificates for the state quota seats under 85% state quota.

For MD/MS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed MBBS from a recognized University by the NMC.

• Candidates need to have completed 1 Year of mandatory Internship on or before the 11th of August in the same year of applying.

• Candidates need to produce permanent/provisional registration provided by the NMC (Earlier MCI) or the respective state medical council.

• Candidates need to qualify for NEET-PG 2023 with the required percentile.

Admission process in GMC Amritsar
