Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023: Eligibility Criteria


There are certain eligibility criteria formulated by OJEE Board Bhubaneswar in order to provide admission to medical and dental colleges in Odisha. More details can be found at https://ojee.nic.in. Candidates need to qualify for NEET-UG 2023 followed by the counselling facilitated for the state domicile candidates of Odisha. The details of the eligibility criteria are explained below.


Nationality: Candidates must be Indian to enroll in the MBBS/BDS program in Odisha. However, NRI/OCI/PIO candidates can also apply for the same program in the NRI Quota, which is 15% of the total seats.


Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 12th with 50% Aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English for the general category. However, the reserved category has some relaxation which is 45% for SC/ST candidates, and 40% for PwD Candidates.


Entrance Exam: Candidates must have qualified for NEET-UG 2023 with the required percentile for MBBS/BDS program. Candidates who are not qualified for NEET 2023 shall not be considered to participate in the counselling process conducted by OJEE Bhubaneswar


Domicile Status: Odisha is a closed state for admission to MBBS/BDS programs in terms of domicile status. Those candidates are only eligible to participate in the Odisha MBBS Counselling process who hails from the state of Odisha. However, some exceptions are also there for participation in the counselling process which is explained below.

Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023: Eligibility for NRI Candidates


Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023 is open for NRI Candidates, who are originally Indian but residing in abroad. NRI candidates who are qualified for NEET-UG 2023 are eligible for a 15% NRI Quota in the top medical/dental colleges in Odisha. There will be certain documents that need to produce at the time of counselling which is mentioned below.


  • Passport of the Sponsorer

  • VISA of the Sponsorer

  • Documents proof for the relation of NRI with the candidate

  • Duly notarized affidavit from the sponsorer that he/she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate

Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023: Counselling Process


Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023 process is a sequence of different events, that will take place once the schedule is released by OJEE Board Bhubaneswar. Candidates can visit https://ojee.nic.in for the latest updates. The step-by-step process is explained below for a better understanding of the candidates.


Registration: this is the very first process of Odisha MBBS/BDS Counselling. Candidates need to register online at https://ojee.nic.in and fill in academic details, upload photo, signature, and thumb impression, and followed by the payment of the application fee. Candidates are advised to take a print of the application form for future reference. Credentials must be kept safe for re-login in the due course of future actions.


Documents Verification: candidates interested in Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023 needs to verify his/her academic and other documents including domicile and category certificates at the selected nodal centers in Odisha. This is a mandatory process to pursue a further process of counselling. Nodal centers need to be selected at the time of application. There will be a confirmation slip provided after document verification which must be kept safe for future reference.

State Merit List: After the documents verification process, OJEE Board Bhubaneswar releases the state merit list of all qualified and eligible candidates. Candidates who will not verify their documents shall not be enrolled in the state merit list. The merit list reflects the list of candidates as per their performance in the NEET-UG 2023 exam


Choice Filling and Locking: Candidates included in the state merit list released by OJEE Board Bhubaneswar will be eligible for choice filling and locking in the Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023 process. Candidates are advised to fill in more choices to ensure a better probability of obtaining a seat. After choice filling of available medical/dental colleges, candidates are advised to lock the choices. Unlocked choices will tend to be null and void in the process.


Seat Allotment: Seat allotment is the last process of Odisha MBBS Counselling 2023. There will be a separate allotment list published for every round. After the allotment list is released by OJEE Bhubaneswar, candidates then need to report to the allotted institute before the last date. However, if the candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seat, then he/she can opt for upgradation.
